Dr H D Sharan did his MBBS and MD in General Medicine from Medical college, Raipur in 1973 and 1977 respectively. He was a Gold Medallist in MBBS. He worked for MP Govt Health Services for a few months before coming to Ranchi and joining Mecon Hospital in 1978.
The health facilities in Ranchi were very poor in 1978. Dr Sharan installed the first treadmill and Holter monitor in Ranchi in the early eighties in Mecon Hospital. He, along with Arun Sarkar were the first to start Colour Doppler Echo in 1995 at the Advanced Diagnostic Centre.
He was instrumental in establishing Guru Nanak Hospital and later Santevita Hospital as Medical Director. He was also the Medical Director of Berlin Hospital before joining Curesta Global as Medical Advisor.
In 2000, when Jharkhand state came into existence, he formed the Jharkhand Chapter of Cardiological Society of India and became the Founder Secretary. He went on to become the Chairman of the chapter at a later date. He has organized several state and National level Conferences in Ranchi.
He was the President of Rotary Club, Asstt Governor Rotary District 3250 and Conference Chair of the District.
